Turkeys and Flowers

It’s turkey season and we have a lot of activity.

Unfortunately, I was traveling and missed the season opener.

Joan and I made a trip to The Netherlands (and Belgium).  We got to see the tulips at the Keukenhof Gardens.  It was pretty impressive.
Not quite the same scale, but the iris is blooming at our home in Mason.
I have some new taxidermy mounts in transit from previous hunting trips.  So I met with Van (the Handyman) to discuss expanding the “Elk Room”.  We’re looking at this area.
We have a bit of a complication with this slab sinking in the barn.  We’ll figure something out.
I previously cleaned Eric’s and my rifles.  I got them out, shot a fouling shot, and then shot a 3 shot group.  Eric’s shot about a 1/2” group but needs some zeroing work since removing the silencer.  Mine shot about a 1” group but was previously zeroed after removing the silencer.  It’ll do.
The pond is growing some weeds that we haven’t had before.  It is also still leaking.
Most of the clover looks pretty good.
It appears that my control of the multiflora rose has been somewhat effective.
I found this turd and the remnants of a broken egg on the porch - whodunit?
The newly planted plots have a blush of green.
More decent clover.

We’ve had a couple recent power failures and I see they’ve been out checking.
Here’s some of the turkey activity.

Even at the bird feeder.

Mixing it up with the deer.

I encountered this valley fog on the drive out.
Can you see the predator in this shot?
They are on the hunt.

Pileated woodpecker?
Dunno.
The deer are enjoying the minerals that I put out.
Some pregnant looking does but no fawns yet.

Antlers are emerging.

Ticks behind the ears.
This looks like a very uncomfortable condition.
One more fox.
