Antlerless Muzzleloader Weekend - Dave Scores

Ohio added a black powder weekend for does a couple of years ago - I've missed it every year and this was no exception.
Dave made it out Saturday evening and he took his two assistants to help him with the hunt.  Here they are in the stand on high alert waiting to spot any movement of deer in the bush.  Actually, Graham and Grant had been sick this week and this was their first outing after missing school.
Meanwhile, I was in Virginia trying to decide whether to live with the smell or go ahead and change Lucy's pants.  We decided to change them.
Dave said he had two bucks chasing does out of the field - he was hunting the new hi-rise in the main field.  There was a shooter wide 8 point and a smaller one.  They were off-limits this weekend.  Eventually Dave took this doe.  He says it was on the smaller side - no weight taken.

The boys helped with the tracking (not much - still in the field), gutting, and loading.  Dave says they will also assist tomorrow on the skinning and butchering.  I think the next generation of hunters is ready.
