Hairball

I've been aware that hawks and owls sometimes produce hairballs/pellets but this was a new one to me.  Feral Hog Hairballs

Prairie, Butterflies, Pumpkins and Other Stuff

We've been gone for two weeks but most of this 4.5" of rain happened in the last two days.
It appears that there has been generally good germination in the pumpkin patch.
But the ground was so wet, it was difficult to do much.
I spent most of Saturday doing other stuff in order to give it some time to dry.
The prairie is looking good.
Lots of different flowers - most I can't identify.
The orange is butterfly weed which is in the milkweed family.
Not sure what this one is - new one to me.
I planted some warm season grasses around the border but I don't really know if this is them.

 Another new one to me.
Here's a view of those grasses on the border.

The butterfly weed occurs naturally all over the old pasture and attracts lots of butterflies.  I think this is a tiger swallowtail.  I'm no expert on butterflies but starting to learn
 IPhone does a decent job.
 Not sure on this one.
Three butterflies in this shot.
 Perhaps a zebra swallowtail?

 Two butterflies.

The wild berries are getting close.  I believe that these are blackberries.

This tangle is what I have recently learned are wineberries.
They emerge from this little covering.
I thought that they were red raspberries.  They are very sweet when ripe.  Peaking next week?
 My one peach tree.
Red and green apples.
 Concord grapes.
I mowed several food plots.  This one was being taken over by thistle.  I sprayed the barn field for replanting.
During the week I had a little driveway maintenance done.
 Grading.
 Gravel spreading.
And a little bit of culvert/ditch maintenance.
This trailcam is on a black locust tree.  Every time I open the camera, I am attacked by ants.
This is a summer annual food plot.  Supposed to be sunflower, soybean, cowpeas, buckwheat, sorghum, and millet.  I can see evidence of most of it but it is predominantly a grass like something - the millet?
This is common milkweed.  It is important for monarch butterflies.  There is quite a bit of it occurring naturally.
 Nice evening on Saturday.
Sunday morning it was still probably too wet but I started tilling anyway.
I made some progress but probably only 1/2 done.
I also thinned some of the rows.
Keeping up on the minerals.
Wearing my Father's Day hat.  Looking forward to the grandkids next week.
