Dave has been outfitting and training his boys.
From the looks of it, they're ready. Maybe next time they'll be out too.
Dave came in second in his age group in the "Run with the Amish" 5k race in Adams County. He's lost 40 pounds and looks to be in awesome shape.
I managed to get out for one evening hunt. Dave joined me after running the 5k race. And, I did get a few chores done before heading home on Sunday.
We got a couple stands ready to hunt from. Here's Dave trying out the hanging stand. He hunted from here and didn't see anything.
I hunted from the ladder stand because this is what the cameras were showing.
Captain Hook had been right below the ladder stand each of the previous evenings. You can see the sundown in the background.
I keep forgetting to fix the calendar/clock on this camera. It is obviously not accurate.

Here I am walking out after not seeing a thing. Everything I'm wearing is camo. It is interesting that some of it doesn't show up that way on IR cameras.

Most of the patch is a mess but I managed to harvest a few more things this week.
I packed it up to take home.
I decided to put some annual rye grass on the prairie plot in the steep areas. I had some of that seed in the barn. No time to go get some wheat and won't be back to plant it. I guess that I'll have to turn it again in the spring.
We had a spit of rain. First in weeks.
I emptied a can of wasp spray into this nest. I was afraid to get any closer. I still haven't entered any of the box stands this year.
This new Cuddeback camera, sold to me in place of a dead camera that was out of warranty, is not working. It freezes and displays "Armed Dwell" but doesn't do anything. Then it says the batteries are dead (replaced with brand new duracells twice). I guess I'll have to contact Cuddeback warranty again.
The fields had a lot of this flower this year. Is it an aster?
The VOA park near our home has it's entire perimeter in bloom in these. I assume it is some kind of sunflower. Very pretty.

Persimmons are bearing fruit several places on the property. Not sure why this one lost all its leaves.
