Drone, Trailcams and Chores

In previous posts I explained how I crashed my new drone.  It came back from the factory this week - repaired at no charge.  No explanation.  I'll take it.
Saturday was a beautiful day so I decided to give it a try again.  It flew well.
On the first battery, I took some photos.  Later I took some video.  I'll post the videos at the end of this post.

Heading down the ridge trail looking back at the barn.
Now rotated looking down the trail.
The neighbor's place down in the valley,
As it was getting close to sundown, I flew over all the fields to see if I could catch a deer out there.  I didn't.
 The props make some noise.
The plot to the right of the pines will be my native grass planting.
Across the driveway.
Up from behind the barn.
Getting near sunset.  Check out the videos for the whole tour.
Another mouse to greet us.  I put the last one in front of a camera.  It is gone but there was no photo of who took it.  I'll try again.
Poop of the week was by the new camera position out in the front of the property.
This was the only action on it for two weeks.
 I decided to move it.
 New position near barn stand.
I found my third deer carcass of the season.
Another buck - this one quite young.  No arrow so maybe a gun season casualty?
 Interesting stump on my walk.
This hanging stand is about 30 yards from my property line.  Maybe this has something to do with the carcasses.
I'm guessing that this is a yardage marker from that stand.
 Pileated woodpeckers I think.
 They really tunnel in there.
Not sure if you can see this deer trail climbing the hill from the creek crossing.
I did some more hinge cutting and crop tree release in the vicinity of this ladder stand.
Got the Bobcat out to just give it a good run.
 Sunday sunrise.
Surprising to see nice bucks like this that haven't shed their antlers yet.
I look forward to seeing him next year.
 There were several around.

And a couple nice gobblers.
But the big flocks weren't on camera this week.
Coyotes passing thru.

 Possum.
Some does hanging around (or at least antlerless).
Wonder what they were fighting about.
I've always heard that their hair was such a good insulator that snow doesn't melt on their back.
Four of them.
 Curious.
This walk was a couple weeks ago.  It was cold that day.
I put out a little cracked corn this week.  We'll see who shows up next time.  The videos below are just drone tours of the property from various angles.

Deep Freeze For Valentines Day

It was about 11F when we came out on Saturday.  I decided to walk the camera route instead of driving it. This is my new camera location out at the front of the property.
Other than me, this was the only other shot on this camera.
On both Saturday and Sunday, I took long walks to look for shed antlers.  I like to just follow deer tracks.
Some places are sort of highways.
And there are spots where they've been digging and or sleeping.
I followed tracks down thru the whole valley, across the creeks, to the back property line, and then back to the front.
Bedding spots.
They do like to use the atv trails in some places.
 Creek bottom.
 Tracks up the hill.
More beds.
This ladder stand is just across the border on the neighbor's property.  This field has been alternating between beans and corn.
An east facing hillside was all scraped up.
I'm pretty sure that it was turkeys.
This section of the pond stand field was scraped up the same way.
I'm sure it was a flock like this.

Third week in a row, the pantry trap was tripped.
I decided to put the body out in front of a camera.
I thought that maybe somebody like this would be interested.
Sunday morning was so cold that I just sat at the table and drank coffee.  I watched the birds at the feeder.
I used my new telephoto lens on my phone.  Not bad thru a dirty window.  I think this is a red bellied woodpecker.  My bird identification is not terribly reliable.
These are the usual suspects - grackles and sparrows I think.
 Bluejays.
 Woodpecker.
 Cardinal.
and friend.
It's hard to see but that is a large hawk - I think red tailed.  He seemed quite interested in the activity at the feeder.
Step counter on the phone for my Sunday walk.  6279 steps, 2.68 miles, and it thinks that I did 25 flights of stairs.  Those hills are kind of steep.
Drone update - repaired, tested, and free of charge.  Should ship back to me this week.
 Trailcams

There's a few one antlered deer around.  I didn't find any sheds this week.

One already dropped and one didn't.

I don't think that it ever got up to 29F - must have been in the sun.
