Gut Pile Chronicles

After gun week, we left a few gut piles for nature's cleanup crew.  I put a camera on them and was rewarded with hundreds of shots.  But before we go there, here is some of the regular weekly content.

This is the double crab claw buck that Creigh shot.  I finally got down to this camera and it had photos from back in October.

Here's Creigh on his way out to the stand.
And the recovery in process.
Here I am on one of my walks.
And Creigh heading down to re-enact my missed shot.  Incidentally, it was apparently a quite successful gun week this year.  Gun Week Results
This week on the camera tour.  I did go to stand with my crossbow.
Poop of the week.  Have you read about the "conventional wisdom" on these "buck bombs" possibly not being from bucks?
There is still food available in the brassica field.
There's been some ice on the pond for much of December - seems early.
Interesting patterns.
First deer out - a little spike.
I had a parade of does.  They eventually got a whiff of me.  Here's a video before getting busted. Doe Parade
Some camera activity.
One sided - fight loser?
Debris on antler.
And debris on other antler.
Doe line up.
A congregation.
Close up.
Here I am walking in on the gut piles.  I saw crows and a hawk take off.
This pile had been moved.  I actually had the camera aimed a little high.
The remnants.
Stomach (rumen) intact.

Here's some of the activity.  Crows.
A hawk.

Two hawks.
Daylight coyote.
Hawks.
Coyotes.

I had 300 shots of this pair.

This buck came in to check it out.

Marking to claim it?

And an owl up in the field.  No evidence that the owl found the gut pile.
