Grandkids for Memorial Day!

Our Chicago boys were in town for the holiday weekend.  We made a quick out and back to the farm but we got a lot of activities in a short time. Of course, we had a few Ranger rides.

It was cool and partly cloudy so it wasn't too hard to leave the pool in Mason.
We tried fishing but nothing was happening.
Might have been the cold weather or the chocolate colored water.
So we had more Ranger rides.

And a first for the boys at the farm - some atv time. They've had a few rides elsewhere on vacation.
Including driving.

Follow the leader.
More Ranger rides.

A few chores - the weeds were starting to block the solar cell.
The boys have been taking some archery classes with recurves at the park district.
They really liked the crossbow.

And more Ranger rides.

Another first - shooting the 22.
Pretty accurate.
From multiple positions.
Mom shot too.
And more Ranger rides.

The jack-o-lantern mushrooms are really growing.

A little BBQ.
And relaxation.
We had to have a Bass Pro visit.
And a picnic before hitting the road to home.
Evidence of fawning season - first of the year.  Seems early to me.  I usually expect June 1.
And the coyotes know it's time too.

Something for the coyotes to watch out for - a mad Mom.
Some does look more pregnant than others.
This one looks ready.
So does this one.
My annual lament of the tick persecution that these beasts endure.
Not just on the ears.
The bucks are starting to sprout antlers.

One really plush clover field.
Turkeys also abound.
Here's an example of a jake (young male) turkey.  Their tail feathers have a step in the arc of their fan.

Bird section - V is for vulture?
A hawk pounce.
And one enjoying a meal?
Chores.

More from Alex visit last week.

Happy Memorial Day and thank you for your service!
