Joan and I went to The Refractories Institute (TRI) conference at the Greenbrier this week. We also celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. So we stayed over a day at the Greenbrier and played the Old White course. The PGA will hold a tournament here in a couple of weeks and the course was being prepared for the event.
Joan's swing was really pretty good. She was hitting the ball well and scored about like she used to. She had some trouble bending over to tee the ball and we didn't let her walk on steep slopes or go in deep bunkers. On flat ground and with a golf cart, she really did pretty well. She was pretty sore afterwards.
The Greenbrier also has flyfishing and shooting. I didn't partake of these activities this trip. This guy was fishing in the middle of the golf course and he had caught a dozen or so trout in about an hour.
Here's Joan teeing off on #18. It's an unusual finishing hole - a par 3 with a big mound in the middle of the green.
Desert at our anniversary dinner in the main dining room.
The Greenbrier has a casino now. I contributed to the cause at the blackjack tables and Joan won at the penny slots.
So then we drove to the farm. I dipped a line Sunday morning. I'm pretty sure that the blue heron cleaned all the bass out of the pond.
There are a few panfish left though.
No rain at all this week, I watered after planting and I watered when we got there. There are a few things sprouting thru the fabric.
I planted a row of the longer pumpkins (115 days). I got lazy and didn't string a line so my row wanders a bit.
Spreading lime on clover last week.
Making the camera check run.
