We were lucky to have Eric and Elliott visit us at the farm for the long weekend (President's Day). The weather was brisk and a storm is predicted to bring about 8" of snow on Monday evening. But we had a good time in the cold anyway.
Lots of Ranger rides in spite of the cold.
We did a little hiking to check out the bedding area of a large buck that Eric saw during gun season.
It was a long way down a steep slope.
Some more Ranger rides. Elliott tried out all the seats.
We also plowed the driveway and he helped fuel us back up.
Interesting ice sculptures.
Aunt Jeni sent a cookie decorating kit.
Various styles were on display.
No shortage of either icing or sprinkles.
The deer had obviously been out digging up the clover in the fields.
Last weekend I had put out a little cracked corn and a food block in anticipation of the extreme cold weather. This photo was last week.
It only took a couple days for them to consume the corn and almost completely consume the block. This picture shows the small block remnant about thirty yards below the stump where it started.
And more Ranger rides.
Next we had treats that Grandma brought. Tough decisions.
Checking to see whether the deer hit the bird feeders over night.A bobcat appearance this week.
Cropped
The weather has been cold and snowy with more on the way,
It doesn't even melt on their backs.
This might be the buck who's bed we were investigating. We were hoping to see a shed antler.
Several of the usual suspects that we hope to see next year.
One of the "unicorns" near the block (before it got consumed).
