We’re in VA for our granddaughter Lucy’s 6th grade graduation. Grandson Charlie and I bopped over to MD for a little hike.
We did the 1.6 mile Billy Goat Trail along the Potomac River and then 1 mile back on an old canal towpath. It was not hard to see how it got its name.
Lots of big trees provided some shade in the 85 degree heat.
We crossed several tributary creeks.
We saw dragon flies, a toad and a blue heron.
The river was high and muddy.
The towpath was easy in comparison.
Here’s the graduate.
And our other grandkids on the last day of school near Chicago.
