Summer Plot Planting

It finally dried out enough to get in the fields. I didn’t do my normal preparation before planting. I just disked them up and broadcast some seed. We’ll see how that works out.

I’m planting roundup-ready soybeans in this one. So I’m not too concerned about the weeds.
It’s rough - I would normally break it up a lot more.
But I did roll it after seeding.
I divided a 40 pound bag of black oil sunflower bird seed into 3 for my other plots. It’s not a heavy seeding rate.
I rolled them too. It’s kind of a “Hail Mary” attempt since I did so little to prepare for summer plots.
Hopefully something grows to feed deer among the weeds.

I also rushed to get my long growing season pumpkins planted. These are 110 days or longer.
Just one big long row so far.
I hope to plant more later. There is more rain in the forecast.
I also stopped at Jones Fish and picked up a bag of bentonite. I’m hoping to at least slow the leak in my pond dam.
Incidentally, there was nothing wrong with the seat installation on the new Ranger. That seat is adjustable so it doesn’t use the tabs, slots and bolt holes that the passenger seat uses. Even if they are there.
More new fawns have been arriving.
And the one good clover field is quite popular.
