Muzzleloader Season - First Blood

Leo and Todd Drove up from FL and our friend John made it out for a day to hunt with us during the 4 day season.
That's Leo in the back and John in the front with me.  Todd is a jock and he was out for a mid-day several mile run.
John only had the one day to hunt before heading back to school at Ball State.  He had been archery hunting before but hadn't take a deer yet.  I let him use my muzzleloader and he got a shot at a doe at about 3:30.  We found some blood and started tracking.
He shot the doe at about 90 yards and we tracked it out of the field and into the woods.
John walking up on his first deer.  It ran about 100 yards.
John still in adrenalin shock.  We were both a little surprised when we rolled him over - button buck.
An easy drag out of the woods and recovery by tractor.  John made a really good shot - it is surprising the deer went anywhere.
I helped John get him gutted and Leo helped him with the skinning and quartering.  John is taking him back to school and he'll be eating a lot of venison this semester.  Congratulations on your first deer John.
