Elk Arrival, Fall Plots Done

This is how an elk mount is packaged for the trip from Montana as a LTL (light truck load - meaning it gets put together with other stuff at a terminal).  I had it delivered to work.
Uncrated, he just barely fit in the Yukon.
Arrival at the farm - Chloe is interested.  Joan and I had a conversation about where he should hang.  My original plans were revised.
We're going to try to squeeze him in above the doorway.  Joan and I tried to hang him up there and it didn't go too well.  He took a spill and impaled an antler into the armrest of a couch.  I decided to wait for more help.  I'm not 100% sure that he will fit in that spot.
We had 1/2" of rain early in the week.  Everything was finally dry.
Last week I sprayed grass herbicide on this clover plot.
This week I could see the effects.
I planted this field in clover last week.  I'm disappointed how much grass survived the disking etc.
There are little sprouts - hopefully it is clover and not weeds.
Poop of the week in that plowed field.  It was plowed a week ago but this white hairy poop was there this week.  Coyote I guess.
I planted some brassica in strips in my failed summer plots.  There are beans and peas mixed in with that grass (that took over).
This strip was the sunflowers that I gave up on.  It's getting wintergreens (brassica).
My other field of sunflowers is stunted.  This field hasn't been right for a couple years.
The deer are definitely eating the apples already.
They're not bothering to wait for them to ripen and fall off the tree.
Coyote cleaning up the cores.
Coyotes are on the prowl.

Fox too.  Been awhile since I've seen a bobcat.

The fawns are out.  I encountered twins on the driveway and managed to video before they ran away.  I'll post some videos at the end of this post.

Keeping the minerals out.
Lots of butterflies.  A few monarchs.  Many swallowtails - tiger and dark morph.  I'll post a few videos at the end.
A couple more pictures of Dave and the boys last week.

There's always bush-hogging to do.  I haven't even cleared some of the atv trails yet this season.
 Bucks are looking good.

A bug parked on this camera lens as a number of different bucks went by.

 Hen
Amazon Prime camera deal.  I never heard of this brand.  Looks like it takes a decent shot.

 Bachelor group parade.
 Nice 10 point.
Friends.

Wanna share those minerals?
Nope.

Videos to follow - one of fawns and a bunch of butterflies.  You really have to enjoy butterflies to watch all of these.

Ahoy There!

My wife has been inventive once again for my birthday.  Delivery service by Dave, Graham and Grant.
Might be a bit of overkill for a 1/4 acre pond but I'm sure the grandkids will enjoy it.
The new aerator was installed this week.  It's a little noisier but seems to be doing a better job of deterring surface growths.

Poop of the week - birthday gift from Dave and Dawn.

Miserable hot - feeling like 105F at 6pm.
7:20 and still feeling like 102F.
Dave and the boys did the camera tour.

10 degrees difference in the woods versus the fields.

Working on fall plantings.  It's early but my schedule is limited.
Field prep not up to standard but I planted anyway.
The disk seems to be self-destructing regularly.
I didn't even get into the pumpkin plot.
They are going to town on apples already.
 Seems early for that.
