A Touch of Winter Again

 We had a dusting of snow and a low temp down into the 20's.  Doesn't bother the dogs a bit.

Snow last weekend too.  But it is supposed to be 65 degrees by Monday.  Weird.

This was a new camera location and it had some traffic this week.

The bobcat is cruising.

A turkey sighting - they become very scarce in the winter.  I don't know where they go.

I don't usually supplemental feed but I put out just a little cracked corn at this time of year.

The clover is ready to take off when it warms just a little bit.

She sometimes earns a reward.

I had them out together this week.  Daisy is a bully.

But they do enjoy the run.

They don't even notice the temperature but I do.

Winter's Back, 375 H&H Scope Work

After 60 degrees a week ago, we were in the teens this morning.  Only about 1" of snow at the farm - we had more in Mason.

It was more typical February this week.

I went to the bench with the 375 H&H.  It is not pleasant to shoot from the bench (recoil) but it is sometimes necessary.

I originally sighted in with 270 grain ammunition on my Trijicon 1-6x scope. I now have a plan to hunt buffalo with 300 grain Barnes TSX and to hunt other stuff (sable etc) with 250 grain Hornady CX.  For the 2nd load, I have a Leupold 3.5-10x scope.  Both scopes are on detachable Talley rings.

So, before I started, I went up 2MOA for the 300 grain load.  I shot a nice group, made a couple of adjustments, and was pretty much right on.

Then I swapped scopes and loads.  I was aiming for the lower X and hitting quite high.  I brought it down in a couple of steps.  The groups weren't great but I might of been getting a little flinchy.  I swapped scopes back, loaded the 300 grains, and shot at the upper right target on the right.  It does seem that it is holding zero even when removing and reinstalling the scope (as advertised).

More work to do but making progress with this buffalo gun.

This is a new camera spot - it will be interesting to see if there's any activity.

There are some bucks that have already shed their antlers.

But most are still intact.
