Annual Whitetail Deer Report

The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) publishes an annual report that discusses the health of the deer herd.  It's full of data by state and has comparisons year by year.  There is a lot of good information but I think the discussions about hot topic issues are the most interesting.  One of the issues that is starting to bubble up is the re-establishment of a commercial deer hunting industry and a market for meat from wild game.  I was amazed at some of the information about poaching.  This association has a great track record and database of information on conservation, habitat improvement, and herd management.  It's a huge report but a good read if you are interested in any of those issues.  You can download the pdf at this link.  Whitetail Annual Report
