Last time on this setup, the meat was gone and there were no photos of who took it. There are two chunks of meat this time and I set up two cameras.
Here I am arriving to check and there's still one chunk of meat two weeks later. The higher chunk is missing.
The piece that was left still had a little butcher paper attached - is that why they didn't take it? One of the cameras in the background.
Here I am taking the photo above.
The first camera had some activity. It showed this deer coming by.
It also caught this possum checking out the bait.
Can you believe he jumped up there and hung on the higher chunk of meat?
Some good shots but not nearly the activity that the other camera caught.
The first thing it saw was this buck going by.
It saw a fox checking out the bait. Notice the other camera in the background which never activated for the fox.
The fox seemed more interested in some deer scent that I left under the bait. Both chunks of meat hanging intact.
Here comes the possum.
There were tons of photos of him on this camera.
Including three in a row showing him hanging on the bait for at least 6 seconds.
Why did he choose the higher one?
Here's a shot of the possum with the other camera activating.
The date is wrong on this camera but he's still visiting 3 days later. He's just not interested in that lower piece with the butcher paper on it.
A coyote did come by. The other camera didn't see him and he apparently wasn't interested in the meat.
More than a week later and the possum is still visiting but not bothering with the 2nd piece of meat.
That's me finding the butcher paper still on the meat.
One of my other setups didn't make it 24 hours. This black lab got it.
And these 3 other dogs checked it out.
My last setup lost the meat but the only photo was this squirrel.
Coyotes made a few appearances on other cameras.
I'm surprised they weren't attracted by the meat. I'm not sure that this was a very productive exercise.
