Pumpkins, Power and Storm Sandy

Here are some of the creative uses of the pumpkins from the farm.
Our friend Margie and her son Steve always win the carving contest.
A close-up of some of their work.
Joan and Linda get creative at our house.
I almost couldn't move this pumpkin by myself.

This was the first year for gourds.
The farm got about 6" of snow on Oct 30 as a result of Superstorm Sandy.  This picture is at 5:00pm so a lot of it had already melted.  I saw drifts on my farm cameras at 7:00am that looked like a couple of feet.  There was still a little snow left in the ditches even this weekend. The power was also out at the farm and the furnace went on the blink.
When we arrived this Saturday, the power was out again.  Luckily we have alternate heat sources.  The furnace is now repaired, the power is on, all is well.
