Harvest Time and Bow Tune Up

Last weekend before bow season opens.  Most everything is about done growing too.  Joan and I came out Friday night and drove down the driveway after dark.  Two nice bucks crossed right in front of us.
It appears that we had an inch of rain in the two weeks that we were gone.  Nice stick bug.
The pumpkin patch - the vines are dying off.  Some brave ones are still green and growing.
The sunflower field is bird food now.
Chicory and clover plots look a little better but still patchy.
 The turnips are awesome.
Look how big they are already.  2 acres like this.
I planted oats with the turnips.  The oats look like grass.  They stick up between the turnips and fill in the bare spots where I ran out of seed.
This is the other chicory/clover plot.  Patchy too.
Michael (Van's helper) cutting the grass and...
 ...harvesting a few apples.
I got one bucket of apples and pears, some zucchini, and some squash.
 Cute little pumpkins.
 Lots of different gourds.
As I was having lunch, I looked out the window and saw this snake skin in the air conditioner.
The head - see the eyes.
 About 40" over all.
The Skeezles are local now so they can drop by for an afternoon.  They came after the boy's flag football game.
Dave's got them starting early on their bow skills.
Grant had a little trouble getting sighted in.
 Graham's bow was shooting well.

 Graham was hitting the mark.
Dave and I also took a few shots to be ready for next week.
We were shooting well at targets.  We'll see what happens if we get a buck out there.
We just had a few minutes before dinner to dip a line.
The boys had to check out the mud.
Graham caught this frog which we promptly used as bait.
Chameleon at the pond house.
Dave and Grant on the dock.
The boys played a little Uno after dinner.
Checking out the book on our Africa trip.
 Sunday morning big pumpkin harvest.
Filled the inside of the Expedition with pumpkins.
Had to put gourds, small pumpkins, fruit and cooler on the hitch platform.
Some extras that I left on the porch for next week.  More in the field too.
Joan was not impressed with this but it worked.
 Made it home and unloaded.
More big pumpkins this year but not as many.
Lots of unusual warty and colored pumpkins.
 The camera tour
Hopefully I got the cards in facing the right direction this week.
