Fabulous Frolic For The Fourth

We had all four grandchildren in town for the 4th of July.  We spent some time at the pool, had a cookout, and then headed to the farm.
The weather broke and we got some pretty perfect farm weather.  Low's in the high 50's and high's of about 80.
Touring in the Ranger was a popular pastime.
Keen eyes kept a lookout for trail cameras.
The playset also was a popular location.

 Major construction projects were undertaken.
And game spotting took place from the elevated platform.
And then there were more Ranger tours.
We kept an eye out for butterflies.
And many were spotted.  Monarchs, swallowtails, painted ladies, etc.

We thought this was a hummingbird but we think it is actually some kind of bug.  Flies like a hummingbird.
 Found months of various sorts.
 Did I mention Ranger rides?
Camera locations started to be figured out.
 Hearty farm meals.
Followed by s'mores (after kiddy bedtime).
 And more Ranger rides.
 Checking the "deer vitamins".
 Helpers with the pumpkin patch.
Weeds are semi-in-control at this point.
 Nature scavenger hunts.
Short-lived fishing in the scuzziest pond ever.
 A little bit of atv-ing.
The boys.
Important nutritional breaks.
 Helpers with the chores.
The grass was one-Tommy-tall.
 Bubble-gloves.
 Frog pond.
 Crashed.
 Sunrise Ranger ride in PJs.
Trail clearing on yet another Ranger ride.
 Stick bug (on Ranger ride).
That's a wild berry patch behind the Ranger.
They are like red raspberries but they are wineberries - an invasive (I don't mind... they're really good).
I picked for about 20 minutes.
 More Ranger rides.
 Grandpa checking cameras.
Lots of different caterpillars.
A little bit of practice for the fall elk hunt.
 ...and a Ranger ride.

Jeni and Leo on the scavenger hunt.
Ranger ride.
Ok, so I was in the farm store, and they had minerals right there.  What could I do?  The deer need their vitamins.
Is that an "adults only" Ranger ride?
 Ringing of the dinner bell.
 Help with the gate.
I hope that everyone had a great 4th - we did.

  1. wow! that looks like it was an amazing fourth! particularly liked the idea of no kids around for s'mores. I usually get stuck eating just the crackers.
